March 23, 2011) Los Angeles, CA – Rock Saké and EFFEN Vodka announce the kickoff of the “Relief Cocktail” campaign to raise money for the Japanese earthquake and tsunami victims. Beginning today, through the end of May, Rock Saké will donate one dollar to the Red Cross Japanese Relief Fund for every bottle of Rock Saké Junmai Daiginjo sold.
The recent disaster in Japan is undeniably tragic and has inspired communities to find creative ways to raise money and encourage others to do the same. Seth Podell, the founder of Rock Saké, felt compelled to find a way to help the country whose national drink is saké, “We offer our utmost sympathy to the people of Japan. We owe everything to the Japanese; without their saké craft, our business would not even be here today, this is an opportunity to give back.” EFFEN was eager to partner on this endeavor to help those in vital need.
Saké is the national drink of Japan and a spirit that is rich in heritage and tradition. Not until the early 1900’s has saké been available in the U.S. and has been primarily consumed in Japanese restaurants. In recent years, saké has found its way into trendy fusion restaurants, bars and lounges and is often ordered in cocktails.
Starting this week, restaurants and bars in California, Florida, New York will offer the “Relief Cocktail” as a part of their menu. The mixed drink is comprised of Rock Saké Junmai Daiginjo, EFFEN Cucumber Vodka, cucumbers and lime. To find out more about this program please contact Rock Saké at 888-849-0505.
